‘To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world’ – Chinese proverb
At Tickton Primary School, we endeavour to develop a child’s cultural capital, understanding of the world and an interest in learning the French language.
We introduce our Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children to the French language through songs, rhymes and stories. In Key Stage 2, language learning becomes more formal, covering a range of cultural topics, vocabulary, grammar points and phonics. Children practise speaking in French during lessons, read French texts and have ago at writing in the language.
