We are mathematicians. We are historians. We are scientists. We are Class 5! Throughout the year we become experts at working with fractions, decimals and percentages and are able to order them with ease. During guided reading, we explore a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, that link to our history and geography topics. In our writing, we learn how to create a range of different genres from poems and stories to instructions and non-chronological reports. We build on the work in Year 4 by using a full range of punctuation in our writing and extend our sentences by using parentheses and relative clauses. In History we learn about The Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and our local history. Mountains, earthquakes and volcanoes, along with The Americas, are studied in Geography. In Science, we learn about animals, forces, properties, living things and Earth and space. To find out how we express ourselves in Music, Art, PSCHE (and what we learn about in our other subjects) please see our long-term plan below. We think you will enjoy all the exciting things we get up to!
